Side-Effects Of Bioidentical Progesterone That You Must Know

Bioidentical progesterone is a bioidentical hormone. These are man-made hormones that are biologically identical to the hormones produced by the human body. Bioidentical progesterone is given to women who have low or unbalanced levels of progesterone. This hormone controls a number of functions in the body, for example, sex, digestion of food, working of the nervous system, growth, etc. Having unbalanced or low levels of the hormones may cause disturbances in these functions.

Everyone knows the fact that although these synthetic hormones are beneficial for our health, they can be harmful in certain ways too. Using bioidentical progesterone can have the following side effects on your body:

● Headache, tiredness, drowsiness, or dizziness

● Nausea or vomiting

Bioidentical progesterone may cause an increase in the development of the following risks:

● An increased risk of cancers for example breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, etc

● Blood clotting or stopping issues

● Nervous system disorders for example brain hemorrhage or stroke

● Fibroids in uterus, cervix

● Endometriosis

● Problems with liver functioning

● Kidney problems

● Urination problems

● Seizures

● Pain in muscles, joints, and bones

● Weakness or bones or muscles

Every person is different which means it is not compulsory for all those who are using bioidentical progesterone to face these side effects. Some may not experience these symptoms at all, whereas others may get severely affected. At times these side effects go on their own, but at others, it is possible that they get critical and do not go away. In the latter situation, you must immediately see a doctor. Talk to your doctor about all the symptoms openly and clearly so that a decision can be made regarding your medications and illness.
