Minimize sodium intake

Therefore, reducing the intake of sodium while approaching your menstrual cycle can help reduce these symptoms of PMDD. You can minimize sodium by minimizing the consumption of packaged food and maximizing the consumption of whole and fresh food.


Saffron

Saffron helps to increase the serotonin levels in our brains. It amplifies the effects of SSRIs. Hence, the serotonin stays in the brain for a longer time. The prolonged presence of serotonin can help reduce the symptoms of PMDD.


Turmeric

Turmeric is famous for its anti-inflammatory characteristics due to its active ingredient-curcumin. Curcumin along with other antidepressants helps to increase the levels of serotonin in the brain. Drinking turmeric with milk is a very healthy recipe. Similarly, mashed potatoes with turmeric are very beneficial too.
